The Nap dilemma

I find myself in a constant battle when dealing with the nap dilemma. When the kids go down, should I use my precious two hours of kid free time to indulge in a nap myself, or get things done around the house, or complete some hobby that I started some time ago? Decision, decisions.

Unfortunately, the chores usually win, despite my body's nap craving. My sleep deprived mind somehow wages this battle of alternatives, convincing myself of the obvious, that If I do not complete the Laundry, dishes, mopping, etc. now...it may not get down before I have to go back to work the following Monday, weekends being my only time home at this point now that I have returned to the business of work.

Today was different though. This morning, I had no chores waiting for me as yesterday my husband cleaned for me. It was so spotless I found myself taking pictures as evidence. He not only picked up the clutter of kids toys, clothes and other misc. items, but he also vacuumed, dusted and mopped the house! I was amazed!

After my gawking at the cleanliness stopped, I enjoyed a walk and baked some zucchini bread with the kids. It was fun. While I played with my little ones, Brandon made dinner for the family. I scrubbed the kids down in the tub after dinner, put them o bed and cozied up next to my hunny for a peaceful movie-well the movie wasn't peaceful b/c it was his night to pick (Fast Five-fun filled action packed) but It was nice to rest in his arms uninterrupted.

This morning I woke to two kids in our bed at six am sleepily grabbed their morning "ba's" and my morning Chi and clambered back into bed while the three of us (Brandon happily snoozed on) enjoyed snuggles and Caillou. Having no plans this morning what with the house clean, I decided to try and keep the house looking immaculate a bit longer, and backed my toasty jama'd up kids in the stroller for a morning jout around the neighborhood. When we returned home they played in the front yard while I dealt with those pesky weeds that have been taunting me for the past month or so.

When Brandon woke up, we loaded up the clan and headed to the local pumpkin patch. We had so much fun watching the kids play in the corn kernel pool, chase each other through the corn maze and straw tunnels, pet-hold and love on baby farm animals (kittens, bunnies, goats and chicks) and get all sorts of dirty. After choosing which pumpkins to take home two hours later, we loaded up the sleepy eyes and headed home only after a quick run through McDonald's Drive through for cheeseburgers and nuggets.

The kids crashed once we got home and Brandon left to help his brother put brakes on the Nova they have been restoring together and here I sit at the computer battling the Nap dilemma once again. And now that I have typed, a long overdue blog, my eyes heavily tell me I can indulge this nap hour for a nap myself. Good night.
