Snowed IN

This weekend my bible study girls and I went away for the weekend kid and husband free.I will admit that I was anxious to go away, not having been away from my family this long before. Brandon lovingly forced me to go, knowing I needed the break and quality girl time. Julie and I left in the middle of the rainstorm and headed up in the pitch black guided by the green path of the GPS, laughing talking and sharing stories the whole way up. Upon arrival we were greeted by Debbie, Sarah and Christina, ate loads of junk food and stayed up late into the night chit chatting about our husbands, kids, and life in general to the sound of the rainstorm outside.
It is so important to get away with the girls because in our discussion we all agreed that we could not be married to each other's husbands, and greatly appreciated our own a little bit more!

With No snow in sight when we went to bed, we had a white blanket to greet us in the morning. I was a like a kid on Christmas morning, jumping up and down in excitement at the news praising God for answering my prayer for snow. And answer my prayer he did! It snowed ALL DAY LONG! We ate some yummy breakfast bagels, fresh fruit and boiled eggs for breakfast and then dived into the word to sharpen each other's iron reading 1, 2 and 3 John. Ate gourmet sandwiches for lunch, watched a movie, played catch phrase and passed the day away talking. So much fun! After lunch we decided that it would be a good idea to move the cars up the driveway closer to the freshly plowed road before they got too buried in the constant snow now about 6-7 inches deep. Four of us girls shoveled away, laughing as we slid around, Christina jumping in to make a snow angel. After shoveling the driveway, we pulled out the chains to my prius only to discover that my beloved had sent me off with our old SUV size. I tired to gun it, but when the car was sliding forward while in reverse we decided it was futile and returned inside.

I called Brandon, only to learn that his weekend has not been as relaxing as mine as Hannah has been very sick, thwarting his plans of a church conference. I told him of our day and the incident with the chains and he is now trying to plan daycare for my sick Hannah so that he can come rescue me tomorrow afternoon. Talk about LOVE! This weekend has been much needed and very relaxing, I have learned to be careful what I pray for, to appreciate and value my husband, cherish the time with my kids, and get away with my girlfriends more often!

The getaway sounds like such a blessing. So glad God blesses us with friends. Have a lovely week. (It's not snowing here --which is just how i like it-- and the snow has melted. It's lovely and warm outside. God bless.
