Different worlds

When we were kids
We were each other's best friend
Wrestling partners
Confidants

But now, we are cordial
Acquainted but not close.
We live worlds apart
Connected by the blood we share

you live an elite life,
surrounded by intellect, eloquence
Class.

There's little enough the same between us
making conversation difficult.

I find myself surrounded by kids
Everywhere, by choice.
I'm most comfortable around my family
And close friends.
You're the socialite, not me.

You drink wine and eat brunch.
I slurp slurpies and enjoy hotdogs.
You travel in fine hotels
I prefer to sleep in a tent
But if I sleep by consideration:
its a clean bed for a cheap price.

Your dogs are your kids
My kids pretend to be dogs.

It's hard to find topics of similar interests with you.
But my love for you has never changed,
Except by growing
from the longing to be close

One day I'm sure our worlds will cross paths again
And we'll learn then, how much alike we've always been.
