A dream

Last night I had a dream.  It has been a while since I dreamed something of significance and therefore I thought I should log it.  This dream was vivid, and I wrestled with the same dream throughout the night, in and out of sleep consciousness wrestling and praying for meaning and interpretation as the dream reminded me instantly of one found in the old testament.

My dream was on an island, with a handful of people representing a multitude of nations.  A giant, building size stone washed to the shore, and the people flocked to it, to gaze in wonder.  The stone was flat, and shaped like the head of an ancient idol.  Along with the head washed ashore stones of facial features: Eyes, ears, nose, mouth...The people began to assemble the head with the features in their appropriate locations, but I soon came to realize that two of the assemblymen were different, the one affixing the ears to the head's sides was deaf.  He had ears, but they did not work, and one was mutilated.  The one assembling the eyes in their retrospective arrangement was blind. He too had eyes, but they were closed and did not function.

When I prayed about this, I believe the meaning is simple.  The people that were not impaired are God's people.  Those that are impaired are those who are blind and deaf to his truth.  The truth is a plain as the nose on the face! But instead, as those around assembled the face, it was evident that THEY were called as God called his people-his nation of Israel, to be the light and shine the testimony of their witness.  That the blind would see and the deaf would hear if God's people live their life the way they are called to be.  That our actions of truth and our words of wisdom will guide the impaired to find the Lord as their savior.  But, as the people of the island, our directions must be pure and without judgement, that we are to to speak plainly without ego and without Picasso's artistic license.  So that we do not pump our own reputation, but rather so that God is revealed through us.
