Sea of Faces
Years have passed,
The Face of your youth embedded in my mind
Your smile, your eyes, your demeanor
Years have passed,
As I search for you, my long lost friend,
I find you in every face of familiarity.
The years have passed,
I try to match the faces of strangers to the face of my memory.
So many could be you, except that hint reminding me its not...
Hours have passed,
I have searched you out through and through,
To no avail.
I despair at the loss of our friendship,
the time that has slipped away.
I think back on the years that have passed,
How did our friendship drift so far?
Why is it that I don’t know a thing about you?
Within these years that have passed,
Our lives have changed,
I must face the fact that I know you no more.
And so, in the years that will continue to pass
I will fondly remember our past,
And continue to seek you out among the sea of faces.
