It was one of those moments that while I was cooking dinner I realized it was all too quiet in my house. Brandon was sleeping on the couch, taking a much needed nap. And so I wandered through the house looking for the kids, trying to decipher what mischief they had gotten into this time, for I had already spent half an hour scrubbing the couches clean of smeared toothpaste just after getting home from work, cleaned up the toilet paper Zechy had unloaded off the roll in the bathroom and picked up the miscellaneous toys throughout the house. It is days like this that I think God is crazy for bringing a third Lake into the world...
When I round the corner of the kitchen I notice that the back patio door is open, ugh, it is raining outside, I bet those kids are soaked to the bone splashing around outside-wouldn't be the first time they managed to Houdini their way outside We already put deadbolts on all the door and a chain over the garage door (because Zech would go through the Laundry room, out the garage door, climb into the unlocked car and hit the button to the garage door opening it to the world out front.)
When I got into the sun room, the kids were so quiet, I kid you not, I walked right past them unknowingly. Hmm, that is odd, the screen door was still locked, no sounds of kids outside. I turned around and low and behold, there they were being nice to one another, coloring quietly. It's moments like these that I am excited for baby Lake #3.
