Conversation with a drug dealer

I took Brandon's Camero to work today. Now that it runs it works as a second car, so I find it nice to drive myself to work instead of hauling the family to work in the morning.

As much as I make fun of the '74 and call it a beater, piece of junk, tin can, etc. it is fun to drive. I get a nice little ego boost at the head turns as men look the car over and then the second head spin when they realize that a woman is driving it. Many people comment of "her" calling her a clean ride and tell me how nicely "she purrs." I feel even cooler when I say:"yeah, all we need to fix is the torc converter then she'll run clean."

Driving the Camero today, however proved that this car is also an evangelical ministry waiting to happen.  Get this, I realized after work that I did not have enough gas in "her" to drive all the way home so I called Brandon and he agreed to meet me at the gas station near my job because, I must confess, I have not learned the intricacies involved with gassing this classic up yet, nor do I want to because I like being spoiled.  So, I drove the Camero to the station, parked off to the side and decided to read my book while I waited for Brandon to show up.

It was hot outside, and there is no air conditioner in the Camero so I had the windows rolled down to let the pitiful breeze come through.  While I was readingI saw a man walking his bicycle towards the car.  The man was about 35 years old, had dreadlocks and clean skin.  I knew he was not a homeless man, and I admit that as he approached the car I was slightly intimidated.  I couldn't roll up the window as I would have roasted to death and so I sat up and looked him square in the eyes as he parked his bicycle next to the driver's side door of the car and peered inside gawking.  Before I could say anything the man said "You want to buy some weed?" I nearly laughed out loud.

"Um, no thanks." I replied, a little shocked that I might even look like a person who would be interested.
"You sure? You want anything to help you relax?"
"Yes, I'm good.  I am pretty at peace as it is.  I've never done any drugs before and I'm not interested in starting."
The man looked surprised as if I had said something foreign. "Never? Like never even tried the stuff?"
This time I laughed, "No, never tried it.  Never saw the point in it really.  I believe in God ya know? He is the only thing I need to get through this world. You believe in God?" I challenged, I saw the opportunity so I took it.
"Nah man, I mean, I believe in God, I just ain't done much for him lately ya know? I grew up in church but I don't go now." He revealed.
"Well, its never to late.  He never stops loving you."
"Yeah.  Well hey, clean ride.  Any chance you want to sell it?" He was serious, and pulled out a wad of cash to prove so.
"No, I think we'll keep her." I stated.
"yes, I see why. ok well have a good day."
"You too.  You too"

He gave the car one more look over before walking away.  I returned to my book just as Brandon pulled up behind me to save my day.  But the good news is, God had already saved me, and that day was his opportunity taken.  You never know why God puts you in a place.  But be mindful that every place he puts you is purposeful, seize the opportunity to share his love with others.
