I blame my friend Jessica. She had to open her big mouth about the opportunity for the full ride scholarship. I wasn't going to apply, as it was never my goal to get my masters degree. I was content, but then my brother had to go and get his PhD, and you know I am competitive...so the idea entered my mind as a one day possibility...
Well, it seems as though that one day might just be Sept. 4th 2012. As I am going back to school....again, pending on the acceptance into the scholarship program of course-God knows I don't have 25K, nor do I plan on going into debt. But, if it is free, well....free is my favorite number.
So, I look back on my education history. I nannied my Lil cousin through the BA years, finishing out as a newly Wed. I finished my credential as a foster mom to two beautiful girls while pregnant with my first. Went into labor during finals week, and therefore had to return for finals the week of post birth. I completed my second credential in single subjects while mothering two young children. I BTSA'd out clearing my credential while pregnant with my littlest, finishing early to avoid school work during birthing week. And so it seems only fitting that I continue the tradition as student mom for little miss Tabs.
I am not super crazy, I will be working full time, BUT-big BUT-it is broken up into a 20 month program with one class every 8 weeks. I should be able to do that, right? I mean, how hard can ONE class at a time be? So long as I have the support of EVERYONE around me to calm my stressed nerves and relieve me of children during major papers (I am referring to husband and parents of course...but if you are volunteering...)
We will see, My scholarship deadline is Monday. I just think that if I don't try I will kick myself for ever. Did mention it is free? This degree would result in a major pay raise/stipend. It really is an opportunity that I cannot pass up. So join me in prayer, 20 months should fly by, meaning that I would have my masters when Hannah enters Kindergarten, when Zech starts Pre-school and when Tabby turns two. Doesn't sound too bad....did I mention it is free?
